“Decksnipe”

I was recruited into the US Navy in 1997. After completion of Boot Camp and technical training as a machinery repairman, I served my first hitch aboard the USS McKee (AS-41) home ported in San Diego as an inside machinist. There, I provided repairs and manufactured replacement parts for US Nuclear Submarines.

In 1999 I transferred to the USS Dubuque (LPD-8) also home ported in the San Diego region where I provided repair services for the ship as well as attached Marine amphibious equipment in support of military operations throughout the Pacific, East Asia and the Middle East.

In 2001 I completed Advanced technical training in San Diego and transferred to Everett WA to provide in port repairs and upkeep for Naval ships in the Pacific Northwest. Shortly after Sept 11th 2001 I was called upon to assist in providing security in the region. I excelled in these duties and was quickly promoted to Watch Commander and tasked with managing over twenty military and civilian Law enforcement personnel in the day to day duties of armed security.

In 2004 I transferred to Virginia Beach, VA to serve aboard the USS Gunston Hall (LSD-44) providing repair and upkeep services for the ship and attached amphibious units as well as serving in the capacity of ship board quality control technician/manager, assistant overhaul and maintenance coordinator, maritime firefighter, damage control training team member, shipboard fire marshal, flight deck fire scene leader, ballast operations manager and gas free engineer.

After completion of my service in 2008, at the rank of Petty Officer 1st Class MR1(SW), I entered the civilian market and was quickly employed by Dresser Rand Seattle field service office as a journeyman machinist. Dresser Rand provides manufacturing and repair services to support regional and worldwide clientele in the Gas and Oil refinement industry.

With a Bachelors of Science in Industrial Design, over 20 years of precision machining experience and my love of making things, I now enjoy working from my own shop in the North Mason County area in Washington State.
